Horton Township, Elk Co., PA; b. Oct 17, 1862, Grange, Porter Township,
Jefferson Co., PA; d. July 14, 1949, Brockport, Horton Township, Elk Co.,
PA. Joseph was the first mail carrier in Horton Township, in Elk
County, PA. It is told that he never missed a day of delivery
regardless of weather. In the summer he delivered by horse and wagon
and in the winter he sat bundled up in a sleigh, and looked much like a
snowman at times. When Ed and Susannah were first married, they had
a home on Boones Mountain on the border of Elk, Jefferson and Clearfield
Counties. The old foundation is still there, although the homestead
has grown up to be deep forest now. Down the road about a mile, also
in deep woods, is the Bish Cemetery containing about 25 graves. It
is very old, the last known burial taking place in 1936. Mostly
contains the graves of the Samuel and Elizabeth (Confer) BISH family.

have not reviewed this in detail to see if
we have found the ancestors of James Warren
Bennett, Sr., but it looks encouraging.
Just wanted
you all to have the "raw source" so
you could add your personal judgments' to my
review. I hope to get to it soon and have
get Sherry's judgment. I still view her as
the most authoritative person on our common
ancestry.
If this

Your listing of the
Prichard (Pritchard?) family in NH is quite
interesting..
We are researching Lola
(Loliette) Pritchard who may have met and married
James Bennett in Hancock, Hillsborough, NH. James
Bennett, with his father, Jonathan Bennett, was in
Hancock, Hillsborough County, NH in 1778-1782 and we
think he married there.
They left and moved on
to Great Bend, PA in 1782 and from there to Cayuga
Co., NY by 1800. They seem to appear in Canajorahie,
Montgomery Co., NY in the 1790 census, but we are
not sure about this..
Their son, Chester,
first child, was born in PA in 1791-2. He is our
direct ancestor.
We would like to know
more about the Pri(t)chard side of the family..
