On a personal trip to VA in April 1991, I found: Pine Ridge Cemetery,
located on SR 1396, Pine Ridge Road. The cemetery is across the road from
the Pine Ridge Baptist Church on Pine Ridge Road. This road is directly
off West Pine Street, approx. 5 1/2 miles from Mt. Airy, NC or 2 1/4 miles from
exit Hwy 89 on I 77 in Surry Co NC. Tombstone reads: 'Our Mother' Polly
Bennett wife of Benjamin born [I'm having trouble reading the photo, but I think
it reads] 01 or 07 March 18__ [maybe 1811], the rest of the tombstone has
been re-cemented into the base covering up the death date ;

"I found Annie's tombstone broken and re-cemented to the base, some parts of the
tombstone are missing. Buried near Annie are 'Our father' Benjamin
born 20 Nov 1803 and died 27 June 1885, and 'Our Mother' Polly
Bennett wife of Benjamin born [I'm having trouble reading the photo, but I think
it reads] 01 or 07 March 18__ [maybe 1811], the rest of the tombstone has
been re-cemented into the base covering up the death date ; other
Bennett tombstones found: "My Mother' Rebecca
BENNETT, born 20 Sept
1835 and died 20 March 1904, a member of the Missionary Baptist Church;
double tombstone for Noah C BENNETT born 01 Aug 1854 and died 08 Sept
1932 with Nancy M born 10 May 1850 died 04 Feb 1929; and another double
tombstone for Andrew J. BENNETT born 07 Feb 1871 and died 09 Feb 1940
with Dora E born 09 June 1878 and died 22 June 1947. To Mrs. A.C.
Peel's right is a tombstone for Ila MAY daughter of
AJ & Dora BENNET
born 22 ___ 1909 and died __ ___ 1913; to her left is Cora Lee
BENNETT, a new tombstone with only the info reading 3 1/2 years old; to
Cora's left is the 'My Mother' Rebecca BENNET. Also found is
Grover
J T BENNETT, NC PVT Army Air Forces WWII, born 18 Aug 1913 and died 31 May
1970. My note taken while walking and reading this cemetery says I
did not locate a stone for James Peel or any Pruitts. This cemetery is on top of
a hill and the view is breath-taking. While in the cemetery one has a
panorama view of the county side. I would like to see this area in
the fall of the year when the tree leaves have changed into their many splendid
